Impressive work! Just the pre-planning process must be very involved. I know wood can be very unforgiving at times as well, plus your realistic texture and painting is executed very well.

Randall, there are many unappreciative people in this world and I would just like you to know that the only reason they feel that way is because they themselves lack the patience and talent to produce any sort of artwork themselves. thanks tom....part of being an artist is enduring the wrath of critics. comes with the job. hardly a waste of time however. i would do what i do even if no one ever saw it.......i really love the time spent doing it. i worked quite diligently from the age of 6 to 15 (painting) before it occurred to me you could........................sell one.

This is absolutely incredible. Not only the carving, but the painting?! Wow. This takes serious skill.

Wow... this is pretty neat. Most of them don't even look like they are carved from a block of wood. They look so real! The notebook at the end, you can see the rings from the wood, but is still pretty cool to look at. What an amazing skill!

I would argue that being able to see the grain makes it better.

chrissy...when you see them up close in real life you can see they are wood. i make no attempt to hide that. the idea is from a few feet away you are completely fooled but up close its "oh"!!. i leave knots and exposed grain and bare wood. look at the yellow pads on the web site....lots of grain.

People are stupid! Just because you don't like a piece of art dosen't make it stupid, dumb or a hoax. Art is subjective, but one thing is not is the skill required to make something like what were looking at. Say you don't like it, but don't blanket your hate all over the place like the sticky wad of a 16 year old eager to shoot his load.

How could they be a hoax? Go look at the design process. (Look at the top of the page.) Someone has a lot of time on their hands!
