Stow-on-the-Wold by McLean Quinlan

by OddMods Staff on October 5, 2010

One of the last two combinations you would expect to work is a rural barn and contemporary style. But architects McLean Quinlan have put the two together, creating a work of art next to none.

Using a run-down barn in the countryside, McLean Quinlan rebuilt it using some of the same framework and stonework. The architect added two wings and a swimming pool to the main barn.

While one wouldn’t expect a contemporary and modern interior to mesh with a more traditional stone exterior in the country side, it actually works incredibly well in all reality.

A radical approach was required for this converted barn sited in open countryside. As the previous conversion had been so poor, we decided to demolish the building and using the salvaged stonework, start again with the addition of two new wings and a swimming pool

  • This is a modern interior design.  I am pleased to visit this site.
